Ah foundation shopping, it can be the nemesis of the beauty shopping experience. SO. MUCH. CHOICE.
But. Before we go shopping. How do you know it's time to switch?
It stinks. It's past it's 12 months and you know it's probably dangerous to keep using it.
It's Summer, and you've tanned. It's Winter and you're a little on the paler side.
Your skin type has changed, and the old formula just ain't working anymore.
You fancy a change!
1. KNOW YOUR UNDERTONE.
You need to know this above all else. Don't know how to tell? Head over to my previous blog post 'How to find the correct shade of foundation.'
2. WHAT 'FINISH' ARE YOU GOING FOR?
Are you looking for a matte finish, something full coverage and not 'dewey' looking. Or perhaps you want more a medium coverage, which you can build up where you need. If you'd like really light coverage, and a more illuminating finish - that can be done too. The good things is most brands make the finish of the foundation clear on their packaging. Super helpful!
3. CHOOSE YOUR BRAND
Are you after a brand that avoids certain ingredients? Or would you like them to be cruelty-free and vegan? Think about who you are as a person and which brands speak to you the most. This can help narrow down the foundation search!
4. ASK AROUND
People are always happy to help, and who better to help than the people or pros that you know. Reach out and ask for recommendations and... what to avoid!.
